For more than 65 years, the Austin family has served the greater Nashville community by providing funeral service and burial management. Milton Austin, along with son Rick and daughter-in-law Carol, worked for corporately owned funeral homes in Brentwood and Nashville for most of those years. In April 2007, however, the Austins realized a lifelong family dream of opening their own funeral business in Brentwood.

Since then, Milton and Rick have both passed away, yet their commitment and service to others in their time of need continues in the comforting yet capable hands of Rick’s family. “Certainly, we never dreamed of losing both Milton and Rick so soon after our business began, but experiencing our own personal loss has even further cemented our personal commitment to those we serve,” says Carol. “We know how very difficult it is to plan and manage the many important and meaningful details of a funeral service, especially during a time of grief. For the families who allow us the privilege of assisting them, we make that time a bit easier by relieving them of the stress of handling the arrangements.”

Carol holds licenses as both a funeral director and insurance agent, roles that enable her to assist families not only at a time of loss, but also in advance planning. Daughter and company co-founder Kate is also a licensed funeral director. With their staff and family, the two women proudly carry on the family’s tradition of compassion and caring.

The full-service establishment handles all funeral needs, from the moment that they are notified of a death until the family’s loved one has been laid to rest or cremated. And instead of asking families to come to the funeral home to make arrangements, the Austins take the service to them and make funeral arrangements wherever a family is most comfortable.

Today, Austin Funeral & Cremation Services stands on the shoulders of Milton and Rick Austin, the two men who dedicated their lives to serving others. Their legacy lives on each and every day as the Austin family and staff continue to serve other families of the community. “Truly, there is no greater honor than helping families celebrate the lives of their loved ones,” Carol says. “For us, treating each family with empathy and respect comes above all else, as we guide them through the many decisions that must be made to honor a life well lived.”
