Honoring Billie Lechleiter

Billie Marie Davis Lechleiter, aged 87, of Hermitage, Tennessee, peacefully passed into the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 3, 2018. Billie was born January 27, 1931 in Smithville, Tennessee, the youngest of six siblings to Wyatt Lee and Lola Davis.

Much of her childhood was spent helping her parents on their farm, caring for older siblings as they started families and tending to sick and aging family members. That innate gift of care giving would lead her to Nashville after her high school graduation. There she earned her R.N. degree from Mid-State Baptist Hospital Nursing School in Nashville. Billie loved her career as a nurse in Gallatin and later in Lebanon, dedicating her life to helping others.

She loved serving her Lord and being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her generous, loving spirit and outgoing personality made her many life-long, loyal friends. She loved reading, antiquing, traveling, but most of all she loved her family and friends. Billie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John H. Lechleiter, Jr., brothers, Joe L. Davis and Jim S. Davis, sisters, Juanita Haley, Evelyn Young and Helena Davies.

She is survived by her daughter, Lesa Oatts Bondurant and husband, James E. Bondurant, Jr. of Knoxville, Tennessee, and her grandchildren, Katherine Bondurant Moore (Nathaniel Moore) of Knoxville, Tennessee, Jordan Davis Bondurant of New York City, New York, and Samuel Grant Bondurant, of Knoxville, Tennessee, and great grandchildren, Ellison, Emery and Easton Moore. She is also survived by her Lechleiter stepchildren and relatives and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Hermitage Presbyterian Church at 421 Highland View Drive in Hermitage, Tennessee. A celebration of her life will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., with the Rev. Scott Jackson of Knoxville officiating. An interment service will be later that day at 3:30 p.m. in Smithville, Tennessee at the DeKalb County Memorial Gardens.
