“Floyd and I are saddened by the loss of our dear friend Richard. I will miss hearing his sweet voice calling about his cars. He was such a kind and caring soul. He worked diligently during my election campaigns. He would say, "I've got Brentwood for you". Farewell for now my dear friend until we meet again in a better place.”

“Richard was one of the first people I met when I moved to Nashville in November of 1977. He took me under his wing, got Mark Edwards to come visit me at Benson Music and encouraged me to join the choir at First. He played for many of my solo's at First. Being part of the Singles group with him at First in those years was joyful as we spent multiple events together, many times with Richard being the cook at lodges on our group Gatlinburg retreats. I observed his food skills up close feeding hundreds of folks at a time as I assisted at some of the events he catered. Great fun. Many decades later, I remain grateful for his kindness, inclusion, musical skill and sustained friendship. My life is enriched having known Richard and am honored to call him Friend. Neil O”

“I first remember Richard from my Father's pastorate at Glendale Baptist in Nashvile and his continued relationship with my parents following the loss of his own..He was a source of joy to everyone around him with his exceptional music talents and success as a businessman. Ss he is with our Lord now and reunited with Frank and Anne, I can picture a joyous reunion with pieces of brass and ivory keys booming in the background. He will be missed and God's grace will watch over the family. RIP Richard”

“Our family has known Richard since the late 1950s when he was just a kid. I can only remember a smiling face and a joyful countenance when I think of Richard. Mother and Dad so much loved and enjoyed Richard, too. I know they both were there with Frank and Anne to greet Richard as he entered Heaven. He brought so much joy to so many.”

“I have only knew Richard for a year but he quickly became one of my favorite people. We was always positive, smiling and never seemed to meet a stranger. He was quick to compliment and build up those around him. He will be missed by many.”

“I have known Richard since 2nd grade at Burton School in Nashville. We reconnected at First Baptist Church downtown when we were in the Singles Class together under the leadership of Lee and Rhoda Royce. He was a groomsman at our wedding and we remained friends all through the years. The photo above was taken after our daughter's art exhibit at The Green Hills Library in 2010. Richard attended and we all went for ice cream afterwards. Born on Valentine's Day, he indeed had a heart full of love. We already miss him greatly, but he lived the life he chose to live, and now his race is finished. I look forward to seeing him again someday in heaven - what a reunion that will be.”

“We are shocked and dismayed at the news of Richard’s passing. He was a wonderful musician, and great wit, and a good and faithful friend. If there are musical instruments in heaven, and I’m sure there are, Richard is already playing for the King.”

“I was so heart broken to hear of Richards passing. He will be so missed by me and everyone else here at the resort. I will miss not getting his emails and updates on all the wonderful things he would do to his cabin. I will miss seeing his happy self coming through the front door and having many conversations with him about anything and everything. Prayers for everyone that knew and loved him.”
